Best of Photojournalism 2012: Still Photography Rules: Registering for the Contest
Best of Photojournalism 2012 is open to professional photographers, editors and online photojournalists, and there is no entry fee. All entries must have been taken or initially published between January 1st and December 31st, 2011. Photographers do not need to be members of NPPA to enter.
Obtaining Your Contest Identification Code
All photographers must obtain a Contest Identification Code to enter Best of Photojournalism 2012. Please note that:
- you must register even if you entered in a previous year
- you cannot simply re-use last year's entry code

Contest Registration Checklist
- Have you agreed to the Ethics Code? All entries in the Best of Photojournalism 2012 are expected to conform to the Code of Ethics that was approved at the 2004 NPPA Annual Board Meeting at the Poynter Institute.
- Have you received your unique Contest Identification Code? Once you complete your registration, you will receive your Contest Identification Code. You shouldn't need to enter it anywhere, unless you enter on CD or DVD, but we may ask for it when you contact us. Your code should be an 8-digit number with 3 leading zeroes; all ID codes for the 2012 contest will be greater than 00042775.
