Bouldering - Areas in the Grampians have been rock climbed since the early 60s with Bouldering only emerging in the 80s however nothing of any note was developed until roving Austrians arrived in 1999 led by Klem Loskot and Toni Lamprecht. This was the kick start of the Australian bouldering scene and established world class problems at the upper end of the difficulty scale putting Australian Bouldering on the map. Much of boulderings pleasure is derived from its inherent risk, boulderers attempt to minimize this risk by employing thin crash mats (boulder pads) and friends spotting them, that is trying to guide a falling climber onto the crash mat and away from danger.
