"Lives Lost" - Muhammad Hassan screams with grief, his face dropping into his hands as he mourns the death of his 11-year-old son, Essa Hassan. The young boy died that morning from wounds to the back of his head, the result of a U.S. cluster bomb that exploded two days prior in Baghdad. The family took him to Najaf, for the ritual body washing and burial in an ancient cemetery known as "The Valley of Peace." The boy's grandfather claimed that the the doctors had done all they could but under the conditions of war, were limited by insufficient medical care.
