The twin beams of the Tribute in Light, a temporary memorial in memory of the victims of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, two columns of light rising from near the site where the twin towers once stood. The display was in memorial of the attacks on the World Trade Center and lit the downtown New York skyline in an elegant reverential memorial tribute.

The high dive at Merced College became an ideal perch for a trio of spectators to view the high school water polo game below on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2002 in Merced, Calif. From left to right, Mitch Makinson, 13, Justin Carter, 11, and Jeff Rowan, 12, each had a brother participating in the matchup of Golden Valley and Atwater high schools.

Tyler Atkins slowly pulls his paintbrush across the ice forming one of the face-off circles used in hockey games at the Casper Ice Arena in Casper, Wyo. Each year the lines are hand-painted on the ice while the ice is being formed in layers for the upcoming skating season.
