The weathered face of an elderly Afghan woman reflects her plight while struggling to survive under the intense 115 degree F heat inside Jalozai refugee camp. With little medicine and poor sanitation the young and elderly are particularly vulnerable to disease. Jalozai camp is located approximately 25 km from Peshawar in the Northwest Frontier Province of Pakistan and is home to an estimated 80,000 Afghans who fled the continuing civil war and drought in their country but are denied refugee status by the Pakistani government preventing them much needed aid and supplies.
