summary - "Oklahoma City Remembers" - At 9:02 a.m. on April 19, 1995 Timothy McVeigh exploded a truck bomb in front of the nine-story Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. At that instant, he killed 168 men, women and children in his war against the American government. At 7:14 a.m. on June 11, 2001 he was executed by that government. As McVeigh s time came to an end, families, friends, victims and regular Americans converged onto the Oklahoma City National Memorial to pay their respects and to experience the execution together. caption - Handprints stain the walls at the Oklahoma City National Memorial. Visitors are encouraged to dip their hands into the reflecting pool and leave a little bit of themselves after visiting the memorial. The hand prints rust, reacting to the elements, leaving what seems to be bloody handprints representing the victims, as the sun sets on the memorial.
