Story is about Afghan refugee families toiling in brick factories in Pakistan. The children work side by side with adults, increasing the families output in order to survive. They have no time or money for school or any semblance of a normal childhood. The families wind up as indentured servants without opportunity to move on or rise above their plight. The hardened hands of Abdul Qayyum, 43, hints of the difficult life while he pauses from work at the NF Brick factory outside of Peshawar Pakistan. At left is his daughter Tourpaqai Bibi, 3. Mr. Quayyum, a civil engineer who fled the Taliban regime, labors with his six children for US $5.00 per day.
